This is Ask Rob Anything, a new initiative from Rob Jackson Consulting Ltd.

The idea is simple. It’s a way for you to get answers to your questions on volunteer engagement, both from me, and from other Volunteer Engagement Professionals.

Here’s how it works.

First, you subscribe to the newsletter for free.

Second, you submit questions on volunteer engagement that you’d like answered. You can ask me anything (within the bounds of taste and decency!).

Third, I’ll regularly respond with answers to subscribers’ questions. How regularly depends on how many questions I get, but my aim is one a week.

Fourth, you can discuss my answers and other people’s responses to them via the comments function.

So, what do you want to ask?

NB. If the links to submit a question don’t work, simply email rob@robjacksonconsulting.com with the subject line, “Ask Rob Anything”.

Inspiration

The idea for “Ask Rob Anything” was inspired by Nick Cave’s Red Hand Files where fans can ask the Australian singer any questions they want. I’m a big Nick Cave fan and liked the idea so, as Austin Kleon recommends, I stole like an artist!

I also drew inspiration from Josh Spector’s “I Want To Know…” podcast where guests ask Josh three questions and he responds.

Who knows, if this idea of mine takes off, I may even do a podcast version here on Substack.

Why is Ask Rob Anything on Susbstack?

First, I already have a newsletter, blog and podcast as well as my fortnightly 200WordTuesday posts across my social media channels so I wanted to differentiate “Ask Rob Anything” from those platforms.

Second, Substack is free. I use it for free and you can subscribe for free.

Third, Substack allows me to retain my Intellectual Property for anything I post here.

Fourth, Substack also has a podcasting function. So, if “Ask Rob Anything” takes off in the written form I can always explore a podcast option.

Fifth, whilst it isn’t in my plan right now, I do have options to monetise “Ask Rob Anything” if I want to, all done simply through the Substack platform.
